Imagine a place with swaying palm trees, white sandy beaches, and gentle tradewinds blowing across the spice islands. This is where these shells are found. We import these shells from the tropical paradise island of Java, Indonesia. The artisans carving these exquisite shells live on the south coast of Java in a small village called Teluk Penyu (Turtle Bay), part of the Indian Ocean. Divers search shallow waters just off the coast looking for just the right shells to make the earrings. Only empty shells are harvested. The naturally Brownish Colored and highly polished Mother-of-Pearl Shells are handcarved into beautifully fashionable flying birds. They are accented with 3mm, 4mm, & 6mm dia. Bali Flower beads and are attached to Sterling Silver (.925 fine) Bali style ear wires. Every earring comes from a unique shell and is uniquely carved.
